Reclaim Childhood: A Mission for Our Tweens

At Wild Gully Nature Play, we believe in the power of childhood—full of adventure, imagination, and freedom. But today’s tweens, aged 10-13, face pressures from school, screens, and responsibilities that can weigh them down. That’s why we’re on a mission to help kids reclaim their childhood and rediscover the joys of unstructured play.

Our holiday program and all of our programs, provide a safe and supportive environment where tweens can be themselves. Whether they’re climbing trees, building forts, or simply laughing with friends, our sessions give them a break from the stresses of daily life. It’s a chance to reconnect with nature, build confidence, and experience the pure joy of being a kid again.

Bring a Mate Program –

To encourage more kids to join the fun, we’ve launched our Bring a Mate Program. For every 10-13-year-old who signs up, you can bring a friend along with the code MYMATE at a discounted offer. Not only will your child enjoy a day of adventure, but for every booking, we’ll make a donation to a local charity—making a difference for our community too.

Give your child the chance to run free, explore, and play—because childhood is something worth protecting. Book now and be part of the movement to bring back play for our tweens!

Why?

I’m hearing from so many families of tweens aged 10-13 who want their kids to have a space to just be kids again. Childhood is a precious time, and I want to encourage our community to join me in reclaiming it—one child at a time, one day at a time.

The Benefits of Play for Tweens

Play isn’t just fun; it’s vital for healthy development. Research shows that play helps children:

  • Build resilience and independence: Outdoor, unstructured play allows kids to overcome challenges and adapt, boosting their confidence and problem-solving skills.

  • Strengthen social skills: Group play in nature encourages teamwork, empathy, and communication, helping kids navigate social dynamics.

  • Reduce stress and anxiety: Studies show that play significantly lowers stress levels, improving mental well-being and reducing burnout for school-aged children.

  • Support brain development: According to research, activities like climbing, balancing, and exploring enhance both physical coordination and cognitive skills in tweens.

Together, we can help our tweens experience a childhood filled with freedom, connection, and wonder. Let’s make a lasting impact—one play-filled day at a time!
